All-In with System Center 2012: 8 minute video [Dutch]
Jun 7th
The company I work for is All In with Microsoft System Center 2012 and it is no surprise that we spend a lot of effort getting across the message that this Microsoft Management suite is what you really need if you build a Microsoft Private Cloud with a heterogeneous landscape of hypervisors, operations systems and applications.
In my book Microsoft Private Cloud Computing several of the important pieces are covered such as System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2012 and App Controller 2012.
This 8-minute video explains why System Center 2012 is such an interesting management suite and ought to be considered by every IT manager or CIO looking to efficiently manage a small, medium or large datacenter.

Virtual Machine Migration Toolkit
Apr 19th
Microsoft at MMS 2012 announced a new toolkit for mass conversion of VMware VM’s to Hyper-V. VMMT is wizard based conversion tool aimed at conversion from VMware to the current version of Hyper-V. Windows Server 2012 support is still under development.
Please note that this is a different tool from the Microsoft Solution Accelerator called Microsoft Virtual Machine Converter.
If you are only converting a dozen or so VM’s it is not worth your while. However if you have 100+ Windows and Linux VM’s in your environment this tool is for you. The target customer has multiple hypervisors, wants to move to Hyper-V and has primarily a Windows workload.
VMMT as it is called uses a combination of existing products and custom scripts:
- vCenter & vSphere
- Veeam Backup and Reporter
- Orchestrator 2012
- PowerShell
- Virtual Machine Manager 2012

System Center Roadmap 2011
Mar 29th
During Microsoft Management Summit we were shown the roadmap for System Center 2012. As you can see for most products there is or will be a beta by mid 2011. During the second half of 2011 all System Center 2012 members will RTM.
I cannot but conclude that Microsoft is well up-to-speed and will deliver on their promises.
